Frank Gehry

Frank Gehry is one of the most famous star-chitect nowadays. His works are iconic and very sculptural. Below examples are the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the vase collection that Gehry has designed for Tiffany.

Resemblance of the strange angles and curves can be seen. In viewing the city in a larger sense, the Disney Concert Hall can said to be simply a vase (just like his Tiffany collection).

  1. Star-chitect--hadn't heard that before. Interesting term!

I used to hear a lot of complaints about the Disney Hall when it was first built. One was that the large panels created glare for those in surrounding areas. Have people grown to accept it more now?

  2. I never thought that architects could be considered artists but this changed my mind. Your ideas also challenge that common thought that art isn't functional.

  3. Time for a new post? Sorry your presentation was rushed a little bit the other day. What were your thoughts on the presentation? Any good suggestions or comments from others?

  4. This comment is kind of off topic and more in regard to your presentation. The Melissa Shoes by Zaha Hadid are rad. The shoes are usually made out of scented rubber, so they end up being quite comfortable and design inspired.

  5. So interesting, especially the first part about "the priority of appearance"... We know that the presentation of what we see makes it important, but I never really thought of it in terms of what we do not see is considered unimportant.
